A super fun Bohol tour

Bohol: The Island of the Famous Chocolate Hills

I’m so proud of myself that after a long year of dreaming to visit Bohol, the long dream has ended because last December 27 – 29 2010 together with my workmates, we went to Bohol for a tour. From Cebu port to Tagbilaran port were very excited of the beautiful spots that we will be visiting.

On day one that was December 27 we arrived in Tagbilaran port, since we already have a tour guide contacted before the tour it’s really easy for us to visit those nice spots there, by the way thanks to Incon Bohol Tours specially to our tour guides, Paul Incon the owner and to Gio our tour guide for the second day and the one who get us in our hotel where we’re staying on the third day, I don’t know his name. On that day too, from port Paul bring us to Hinagdanan Cave, you can see our photo below.

It’s really amazing cave, theirs a water pool inside which is deep and the structures of the stone were very nice. After here, we go straight to our hotel room which was very nice too, I hope I could sleep back there.

On the second day of our tour, it’s time for our country side tour, we went to Baclayon Church, Butterfly sanctuary, Bayoyong, blood compact monument, to a mini zoo were two big snakes were there, then to Loboc River for our lunch, after that we take Zip Line passing across the Loboc River, tarsier sanctuary, man-made forest,  ATV ride, then Chocolate Hills. The second day was really fun, I really have a great day seeing those beautiful places in Bohol. Pictures on our second day tour below.

Funny ATV ride the best among all.

At the top of the mountain viewing the Chocolate Hills

That’s the end of our tiring second day country side tour, and on our third day of tour I think it’s more exciting because we rises early to have a dolphin watching, it’s my first time in my entire life to see a real dolphin. See photo below.

Dolphin watching at sea of Panglao, the photo was not that clear or the dolphins image was very small because it’s very hard to capture the energetic dolphins. They’re many and they’re playing as you can see on the photo.

Snorkeling in Balicasag Island. This island was really nice, lots of corals and lots of fish. I’m feeding them with bread so that they will go nearer to me.

It’s me, diving on the sea of Balicasag Island.

In the photo above, it’s me in Virgin Island, it’s a beautiful sand bar Island.

At Panglao Beach, we take a swim after arriving from our Island hopping. Very nice beach promise.

After that we went back to our room because it’s already time to go back to Cebu. The experienced was really amazing and I’m so thankful that once in my life I fulfill one of my dream, to visit Bohols beautiful spots and that experienced will remain forever in my memories. Bohol was a very nice place to be with, quite, simple but has lots of beautiful places.

If I were you I will also visit the places where we’ve been. It would be easier if you will hire a tour agency like Incon Bohol Tours for you to have an unforgettable experienced too.

Have you ever seen a giant but friendly whale sharks? If not, then it’s your time to see it in person, touch it like your friend. Yes, like your friend because this giant whale sharks were not dangerous instead they’re very friendly to their guest friends who will come to meet them.

Take a look at the pictures below and see how big and friendly they are. These photos were not mine I just grabbed it from another site because I wasn’t able to take photos when I was there.

whale shark

Want to meet the friendly giant whale sharks? Well it’s our pleasure to introduce to you, the proud of Oslob, Cebu, the TUKI or the whale sharks. If you want to see this giant friendly whale sharks, simply from Cebu City you just have to take a ride for a minimum of 3 hours on Sunrays or Ceres bus liner and drop at Tan-awan, Oslob, Cebu. The fair for the trip is Php140+, I prefer Sunrays bus for they are from Oslob too so they are much more familiar with the place.  And then when you get there, their is an entrance fee of Php100 and a fee for the bangka, don’t worry it’s not that much however you will really enjoy meeting the friendly whale shark. By the way, this giant whale shark is eating “hipon or uyap” or “small shrimps” so it’s better that you have it before riding the bangka so that the tuki or whale shark will be happy on your meet-ups. Enjoy and don’t forget to take some photos for souvenir.  Have a nice trip to Oslob, Cebu, Philippines.!

Eiffel Tower – Paris, France

The Eiffel Tower is the tallest building in France composed of massive latticework structure. The Eiffel Tower is currently owned by the City of Paris and is used as a landmark for visitors. The Eiffel Tower was built for the Paris Exposition of 1889. The Eiffel tower was finished in 1889 and was nearly torn down 20 years later after its lease expired. However, it was kept because many thought its antenna for telegraphy would be useful. In 1910, it became part of the International Time Service. The Eiffel Tower is one of the most visited sites in all of the world. The Eiffel Tower has attracted over a quarter of a billion visits in its existance. The Eiffel Tower at Night is one of the most beautiful attractions in the city and shines a golden color visible to most in Paris. Even today, the Eiffel Tower serves as a symbol of the beauty of Paris.

The Eiffel Tower is a icon of Paris, pronounced in french as “Tour Eiffel”. The Eiffel Tower is an iron construction created in the 19th century to be a temporary exhibition for the Universal Exposition. It is one of the most easy recognized constructions in the world.

When visiting Paris you can’t get away with not being on the top of the Eiffel Tower once. Although the view might not be as great as on other historical buildings the Eiffel Tower is an monument representing the city for many years. At some points visiting the Eiffel Tower can take up quit some time as waiting lines tend to count up till 2 hours in high season.

Visitors can chose to go to the second floor (115m or 377ft) or all the way to the top (276m or 905ft). The second floor can be reached by stairs while the top

floor is only reached by an elevator. Three elevators are available while one two are in use at the same time, this is for maintenance. The top floor can also be reached from the second floor. If you are going to the top , take the stairs to the second floor where you will find interesting historic facts and events about the Eiffel Tower. But if you do not have much time, you might as well take the elevator to the top floor at once cause another waiting line will be there on the second floor. Both floors have restaurants for which a reservation should be made couple weeks ahead. The second floor has also a snackbar and a souvenirshop while the top floor has a historic view of Gustaf Eiffel’s office and engineerroom.

As paris is called the city of lights then the Eiffel Tower could be called
the monument of lights. At night the Eiffel Tower is fully lit which give a wonderfull unique view.

Great Wall of China

great wall of china

The Great Wall of China is roughly an hour journey away from Beijing. In a group of five, we set off to the Bus Station by taxi from our China Hotels using China Travel. From there we boarded the bus to ‘Mutianyu’ which is a small village near the Great Wall. It was interesting as we gazed out of our windows most of the time and looked at the scenery of Beijing’s landscape, culture and beauty.

The bus dropped us off in a small village 20km away from Mutianyu and we then flagged a taxi down to take us to our desired destination. We negotiated and bargained with the taxi man to give us a good price for the ride there and eventually after a long discussion we managed to get a good price and arrived in a small minibus. The roads there were not fully developed although most are concrete payment, but huge holes in the ground made us jump around a lot in the taxi, it was fun so using China Tours would definitely be the best option for a more comfortable ride.

So we finally got to the Great Wall, ahead of time we stopped off for some food at a nearby restaurant and we dined into some Chinese cuisine. It was traditional style Chinese food with a variety of foods to choose from and gave us a boost of energy for the upcoming trek. We then walked up a large hill and came across the ticket box to purchase our entrance, sky lift, and toboggan lift tickets. It was surrounded with heaps of cultural stalls and attractions to interest tourists and people in with souvenirs and gifts to purchase. This felt intense as you were bombarded with hundreds of people trying to sell you something. But eventually to our glee and to some extent- exhaustion, we made it to the sky lift and made our way up to the Great Wall of China.

At last! Standing and seeing an ancient and most preserved wonder of the world! It felt great and good to be witnessing something extraordinary. I took lots of pictures and videos, and for some reason started thinking about life. It really does amaze you once you are up there in the mountains and seeing something powerful, its beauty at its best. We walked the wall until the very end of its capable and safety limit which took us around two hours to do. The Wall itself is actually thousands of miles long so we couldn’t see all of it as it would probably take us a year to do. So getting here with a good pair of shoes is better for long distance walking especially on the Great Wall of China.

After an eventful and enjoyable day, we turned around and began our journey back. This involved taking a toboggan ride down the last hills of the Great Wall. It was great and so much fun when you slide down, it’s like one big roller coaster! Once down the mountains, we got a minibus back to Beijing city and ended our day. This is was fun also as it gives you a chance to relax on your way home from a long and tiring but exhilarating day out. This is one trip that should be experienced by everyone and is truly something different and special. For more information, I would recommend China Flights to create a package.

Toaist Temple – Cebu City, Philippines

Aside from the Minor Basilica of the Santo Nino, Magellan’s Cross, and Fort San Pedro; another tourist spot that could be visited in Cebu City is the Taoist Temple. The temple is located on the outskirts of Cebu City and on a much higher ground than the metropolis.

The Taoist Temple is the center of Taoism in Cebu City, which is mostly practiced by the Filipino Chinese living in the area. The temple is large in terms of area and there are many interesting things that could be found there. Aside from that, the view of Cebu City from the temple is good.

taoist temple cebu

It was built in 1972 with the help of Cebu’s prominent Chinese community. The Taoist Temple is constructed in a highly ornate with a pagoda style roof and of course prominent oriental Chinese architecture. The temple is the a center of worship for Taoism, the religion which follows the teachings of the ancient Chinese philosopher, Lao Tze. You can see Taoist devotees following their rituals on Wednesdays and Sundays, as they climb the 99 steps of the temple to light joss sticks and have their fortunes read by the monks.

How to Go to Taoist Temple
There are no regular passenger jeepneys going to the Taoist Cebu Temple. The temple can only be reached by hiring a taxicab or by your own vehicle. Taking you own or rented vehicle to the temple is not a problem since the temple has a large parking space.

Taxi drivers do not usually go to Taoist Cebu Temple and will try to negotiate with the passengers so as to jack up the taxi fare. Try to haggle with the taxi drivers until you get a reasonable fare for your trip to Taoist Temple.

It is advisable to ask the taxi driver to wait for you while you are visiting the temple since it will be hard to get a taxi back to downtown Cebu City.

The reasonable price is around 300 pesos. That is already good for both going to the Taoist Cebu Temple and going back to Cebu City.

What to Find Inside Taoist Temple
There are many things that could be seen inside the temple. An example of this is the architecture of the temple which reflects the Chinese origin of Taoism. The layout of the temple, the motifs and the design elements that are inside the temple mirrors the architecture that could be found in the Taoist and Buddhist temples in China. One notable Chinese design element that is present in the temple is the dragon. There are dragons that are painted on the ceilings. Statues of dragons are also present from the rooftop to a giant dragon statue on one of the temple gardens.

Getting up this Cebu temple is tiresome because you have to climb a stairway with scores of steps just to reach the temple proper.
